Job Summary: This position leads individual giving efforts for the Center for Community Alternatives. This position works closely with CCA’s Communications, Development, Programs, Advocacy, and Administrative departments to maximize organizational fundraising efforts. The goal is to grow individual revenue from $300,000 to over $500,000 by the end of the second year in the role. The DIG will develop a comprehensive development strategy to cultivate individual gifts of all sizes, with a heavy focus on developing major gifts of $1K+.

 The right candidate is highly self-motivated, with a proven track-record of experience securing major gifts and a passionate dedication to CCA’s mission. This position requires regular in-person meetings in New York City and periodic travel within the state of New York.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Major Gifts: 50%

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of 50-100 donor prospects ranging from $1,000 to $200,000+
  • Lead moves management for all prospects, leveraging CCA’s CRM, EveryAction to  analyze retention rate, churn rate, and other KPIs and make data-informed decisions
  • Support the Executive Director in outreach to high-capacity individuals, family offices, donor advised funds, and priority prospects
  • Enact site visits and meetings, including briefings, prospect research, talking points and follow-up
  • Secure 100% giving and annual year-end match from CCA’s 72-member Board of Directors
  • Create and share opportunities for Board Members to connect with CCA’s work and invite their networks to engage (e.g. site visits, programmatic events, fundraising events, giving campaigns, Board-Member hosted cocktail events)Activate Board Members to participate in all fundraising efforts and connect CCA to their networks
  • Manage major donor events and determine optimal frequency and spacing of events
  • Secure sponsorship and other corporate support
  • Research and implement a planned giving strategy

 Board Management & Activation: 20 %

  • Secure 100% giving and annual year-end match from CCA’s 72-member Board of Directors
  • Create and share opportunities for Board Members to connect with CCA’s work and invite their networks to engage (e.g. site visits, programmatic events, fundraising events, giving campaigns, Board-Member hosted cocktail events)
  • Activate Board Members to participate in all fundraising efforts and connect CCA to their networks 

 Supporting Donor Ecosystem – 20%

  • Create a stewardship and retention strategy for donors of all sizes
  • Partner with Communications Department to align on digital fundraising strategy, messaging consistency, and design
  • Create and manage a calendar of donor communications to consistently share important organizational updates, upcoming events, and moments of impact
  • Create collateral to support fundraising efforts, including pitch decks, one-pagers, and testimonial, with support from Communications and Program Departments
  • Execute compelling mid-level and grassroots donor appeals for key dates like Giving Tuesday and End of Year
  •   Work with Resource Development, Communications, Finance, Programs, and Advocacy & Organizing departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Team Management, Admin, & Database: 10%

  • Manage Development Coordinator to ensure seamless gift processing and prompt acknowledgment for all gifts
  • Support Development Coordinator to conduct thorough research and wealth screening on all prospects and supporters
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of donor database
  • Maintain accessible and clear donation forms through EveryAction and Zeffy
  • Oversee mail pieces

 Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience managing a major gift portfolio with a track record of securing 5 and 6 figure gifts
  • Experience working with Board Members
  • Ability to meet with donors in person 2 days a week on average in the NYC metro area and  travel throughout the state 6-12 times per year
  • Proven track-record of securing major gifts from new donors and increasing support from existing supporters
  • History working as a self-starter while also thriving in a collaborative work environment
  • Preferred: Lived or professional experience with the carceral system
  • Preferred: Past work at a mission-driven organization doing work similar to CCA
  • Preferred: Experience managing Every Action or other donor CRM
  • Preferred: Donor prospecting experience and experience with a tool like Wealth Engine, Donor Search, or iWave
